Preamble
India is embarking on creating skilled workforce launching ‘Skilling India Mission under the Prime Minister Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY)- a flagship programme. Towards the proactive institutional participation and in order to make education more relevant and to create ‘industry fit’ skilled workforce to meet locally the industry manpower requirements in the region, the college desires to introduce skill based programmes in high employment potential sectors viz. Food Processing and Beauty Services under the Community College scheme launched and supported by UGC so as to connect the institute with the Industry, in particular and Society, in general.

Objectives:
On the backdrop of the fact that there is a serious mismatch between the students pursuing conventional degrees and the skills and knowledge required by the industry which a major contributor in job market. The proposed programmes would lead to developing the skill development centre maintaining a pyramid structure of student enrolment with respect to Certificate, Diploma, Advanced Diploma in ever demanding sectors. The focus of skill development components has been therefore on equipping students with appropriate technical knowledge, practice and attitude, so as to fulfill the skill gaps and make them work ready.
The proposed programmes are destined to serve the specific objectives such as:
To create skilled manpower for industry requirements based on job roles, skill gaps and job specific skills at various levels in the region with the integrated approach towards agriculture, industry and health care.
To coordinate with the industry to become a Centre of Excellence for skill development in specialized areas.
Networking with other institutions imparting vocational education under Community Colleges for targeted development of skill oriented education.
Undertake R&D in the areas of food production, processing, preservation and beauty and wellnesss related to skill development, entrepreneurship, employability, labour market trends.
Function as finishing school by providing supplementary modular training programmes so as to make youths job ready with necessary work skills (soft, communication, ICT skills etc) and fill the gaps in the domain skills measured against QPs/NOSs.
Maintain up-to-date ‘Labour Market Information’ for the regions in coordination with other government agencies and industry associations.
Provide expertise by way of consultancy to the industry and also the laboratory backup for modernization and innovation.
Provide extension services by way of organizing workshops, seminars, orientation programmes for the community around for general awareness and preserve and promote the cultural heritage of the region.

Objective of the Scope:
To train students actively participate in every facet of the country’s growing food industry.
To gain knowledge and understanding about food systems in the production, processing and consumption of food and an appreciation of their impact on society.
To provide knowledge and understanding about the nature of food and human nutrition and an empowerment of the importance of food to health
To learn skills in researching, analyzing and communicating food issues, skills in experimenting with and preparing food by applying theoretical concepts and skills in designing, implementing and evaluating solutions to food situations.
To develop entrepreneurial spirit among students for inspiring them to set up their career and own facilities.
To spread awareness in the community about the Science of Technology of food processing and preservation for use in the household and cottage sector.
To adopt developmental works for new products and for improved formulations for traditional food products.
To collaborate actively with industry for mutual benefits. To inculcate a spirit of social service in students by involving them in the activity.
