INTERNAL COMPLAINTS COMMITTEE (ICC)

The Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) is a statutory body established in accordance with the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition, and Redressal) Act, 2013, and the University Grants Commission (UGC) Regulations, 2015. Its primary purpose is to create a safe and equitable environment for all members of the college community by addressing issues related to sexual harassment and gender-based discrimination. The ICC is committed to upholding the dignity and rights of individuals, ensuring that the campus remains a place of learning and growth, free from any form of harassment, and reconstituted to deal with complaints relating to sexual harassment in the workplace.

The key objectives of the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) are:
  • Prevention of Sexual Harassment:
    • To develop and implement policies to prevent sexual harassment within the college premises.
  • Promotion of Gender Amity:
    • To foster an environment of gender equality and mutual respect among students and staff.
  • Awareness Programmes:
    • To conduct regular workshops and seminars to educate the college community about issues related to sexual harassment and the importance of gender sensitivity.
  • Support Services:
    • To provide counselling and support to individuals affected by sexual harassment, ensuring their well-being and safety.
    The functions of the Internal Complaints Committee include:
  • Complaint Redressal:
    • To receive and address sexual harassment complaints promptly and confidentially, ensuring a fair and unbiased inquiry process.
  • Policy Implementation:
    • To enforce the college’s policies related to the prevention and prohibition of sexual harassment, ensuring compliance with legal standards.
  • Monitoring and Evaluation:
    • To regularly assess the effectiveness of measures taken to prevent sexual harassment and recommend improvements as necessary.
  • Confidentiality Assurance:
    • To maintain the confidentiality of all proceedings and protect the identities of the complainant and the accused, thereby fostering a secure environment for reporting incidents.
  • Disciplinary Actions:
    • To recommend appropriate disciplinary actions against individuals found guilty of sexual harassment, in accordance with college policies and legal guidelines.
    The Committee shall receive, hear and conduct inquiries into the complaints as per the procedure laid down under the Act. It is dedicated to ensuring that all complaints are handled with the utmost sensitivity and professionalism, reinforcing the college’s commitment to providing a safe and inclusive educational environment.
    Any aggrieved woman who has suffered harassment at the workplace can approach ICC.
    Aggrieved women include:
  • Woman who is an employee, or
  • Someone visiting the workplace, or
  • Student
    • Note: If a woman is unable to file a complaint due to physical or mental incapacity, or in the event of her death, her legal heir or another authorized individual may submit the complaint on her behalf.
