SEWAGE WATER TREATMENT PLANT

We are proud to install the Sewage Water Treatment Plant (SWTP), a testament to our commitment to environmental sustainability and resource conservation. This facility is designed to efficiently treat wastewater generated on campus, ensuring that our effluent meets stringent environmental standards before being safely discharged or repurposed. By implementing advanced treatment processes, the SWTP not only mitigates the environmental impact of our operations but also serves as a practical educational resource for students and faculty, fostering research and learning in wastewater management and environmental engineering.

  • Wastewater Collection
  • The SWTP systematically gathers sewage from various campus facilities, channelling it through a network of pipes to the treatment plant.
  • Primary Treatment
  • In this initial phase, the plant removes large solids and suspended particles from the wastewater through screening and sedimentation processes.
  • Secondary Treatment
  • Utilizing biological processes, the SWTP degrades dissolved organic matter, significantly reducing the biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) and eliminating harmful pathogens.
  • Tertiary Treatment: This advanced stage involves additional filtration and disinfection methods to remove residual impurities, ensuring the treated water is of high quality and suitable for safe discharge or reuse.
  • Sludge Treatment and Disposal: The plant processes the by-product sludge generated during treatment, employing methods such as digestion and dewatering to reduce volume and prepare it for appropriate disposal or potential use as a soil conditioner.
  • Resource Recovery: Emphasizing sustainability, the SWTP explores opportunities to reclaim resources from wastewater, such as energy production through biogas generation and water reuse for non-potable applications like irrigation and landscaping.

  • Through these comprehensive functions, our Sewage Water Treatment Plant not only safeguards the environment but also exemplifies our dedication to sustainable practices and educational excellence.
