STUDENT AID FUND
At present, besides these scholarships/ concessions, the institution gives the concessions in fees by way of waiving in full/ part, remittance in instalments, support through the Student Aid Fund, and financial support from faculty and staff.
Schemes
- Fee waiver for 2.5% of students not covered under any scholarships and/or uncovered part of the fees.
- ‘Adopting one student by each faculty/ staff’ for three years covering fees/uncovered part of the fees and commuting costs.
- Adopting a daughter/ son of the martyr’s family for three years covering fees/uncovered part of fees and commuting costs.
Selection Procedure
- A committee for the ‘Student Aid Fund’ shall invite applications from desirous students at the beginning of the academic year.
- Committee shall scrutinize the applications and finalise the beneficiary based on desirability, genuinely case by case.
- Committee shall allot to each faculty/ staff one student to be adopted.
- The schemes shall be published in the prospectus and web portal.
Objectives
- Financial Assistance:
Offer aid to students unable to afford educational expenses, including tuition fees, textbooks, and accommodation.
- Access to Education:
Ensure financial constraints do not hinder students from accessing education, making it attainable for all, regardless of socio-economic background.
- Equity and Inclusion:
Promote inclusivity by supporting students from marginalized or underprivileged backgrounds, such as low-income families and individuals with disabilities.
- Reducing Dropout Rates:
Provide financial assistance to decrease the likelihood of students discontinuing their education due to economic hardships.
- Empowering Students:
Equip students with the necessary financial resources to pursue their educational goals, leading to improved academic performance and future prospects.
- Social Mobility:
Support disadvantaged students to enhance social mobility and reduce societal inequalities through education.
Functions
- Identification of Needy Students:
Collaborate with faculty to identify students facing financial difficulties that may impede their education.
- Resource Allocation:
Distribute available funds to eligible students based on assessed financial need and academic merit.
- Awareness Programmes:
Inform students about the availability of financial assistance and the application process for the Student Aid Fund.
- Monitoring and Evaluation:
Regularly assess the effectiveness of the aid provided and make necessary adjustments to better serve the student community.
- Policy Development:
Establish and review policies related to the distribution and management of the Student Aid Fund to ensure transparency and fairness.
- Collaboration with External Agencies:
Work with external organizations and donors to secure additional funding and resources for student assistance programmes.
Through these objectives and functions, the Student Aid Fund Committee plays a pivotal role in fostering an inclusive and supportive educational environment, enabling all students to achieve their academic aspirations without financial hindrance.
