STUDENT INDUCTION PROGRAMME (SIP)

Deeksharambh– a Student Induction Programme (SIP), as outlined by the University Grants Commission (UGC), is a pivotal initiative aimed at acclimating new students to the higher education environment. This is a compulsory ‘Non-credit Certificate Course’ designed for all newly admitted B.A., B.Com., B.Sc., and B.Voc. Students. It facilitates student’s seamless transition from secondary education, fostering a sense of belonging and understanding of the institution’s ethos. The SIP emphasizes holistic development, acquainting students with academic procedures, institutional values, and available resources, thereby laying a robust foundation for their academic journey.

  • Facilitate Smooth Transition:
  • Assist students in adapting to the higher education landscape by providing comprehensive insights into academic norms, institutional culture, and campus life.
  • Promote Holistic Development:
  • Encourage students to engage in a variety of activities- academic, cultural, and social- to ensure well-rounded growth and the development of essential life skills.
  • Establish Mentor-Mentee Relationships:
  • Create a supportive network where experienced faculty and senior students mentor newcomers, offering guidance and fostering meaningful connections.
  • Enhance Awareness of Institutional Resources:
  • Inform students about the various facilities, support services, and opportunities available within the institution to maximize their educational experience.
  • Instill Institutional Values and Ethics:
  • Impart the core values, ethical standards, and expected conduct within the institution, promoting a cohesive and respectful campus environment.
  • Design and Implementation:
  • Develop a structured induction programme tailored to the institution’s specific context, ensuring alignment with UGC guidelines and addressing the unique needs of incoming students.
  • Coordination of Activities:
  • Organize and oversee various induction events, workshops, and interactive sessions that introduce students to different facets of college life, including academic departments, extracurricular opportunities, and support services.
  • Mentorship Allocation:
  • Establish mentor groups by pairing new students with faculty and senior student mentors, facilitating regular interactions and continuous support throughout the induction period and beyond.
  • Feedback and Evaluation:
  • Implement mechanisms to gather feedback from participants to assess the effectiveness of the induction programme, making necessary adjustments to enhance future iterations.
  • Continuous Engagement:
  • Ensure that the induction process extends beyond initial orientation, with ongoing activities and support systems in place to assist students throughout their first semester, fostering sustained integration into the college community.

The SIP Committee plays a decisive role in shaping a positive and enriching experience for new students, setting the stage for their academic success and personal development within the institution.
