WIND-SOLAR POWER GENERATION PROJECT

Our college is proud to announce the launch of an innovative Wind-Solar Power Generation Project, a significant step towards sustainable energy solutions and environmental stewardship. This hybrid system synergistically combines wind turbines and solar photovoltaic panels to harness renewable energy from both wind and sunlight, ensuring a consistent and reliable power supply throughout the year. By integrating these complementary energy sources, the project not only reduces our carbon footprint but also serves as a dynamic educational platform for students and faculty to engage with cutting-edge renewable energy technologies.

This Wind-Solar Power Generation Project exemplifies our commitment to environmental responsibility and academic excellence, positioning our college at the forefront of sustainable innovation.

The whole of Maharashtra is observing a problem of insufficient electricity supply. To comply with this shortage of electricity, the Government of Maharashtra has started wind-mill projects in the hilly regions of the Western Ghats and plateaus on a large scale. The Deur, being a hilly region and having an ideal situation to produce wind-mill energy, gave

us an idea to overcome this problem by installing a small-scale Wiid Mill for our day-to-day needs. As an outcome of this, our institution has installed a Wind-Solar hybrid system (10kw) to comply with non-conventional energy resources. Now, the institution has self –

reliance on electricity generation. This system provides an un-interrupted power supply to the overall equipment of the institution.

  • Renewable Energy Production: The primary function of the project is to generate clean electricity by capturing wind and solar energy, thereby decreasing reliance on non-renewable power sources and promoting environmental sustainability.
  • Educational Resource : Serving as a living laboratory, the project offers hands-on learning opportunities for students across various disciplines, fostering research and practical skills in renewable energy systems.
  • Grid Stability Enhancement : By producing energy during different peak times—solar panels during the day and wind turbines often at night—the hybrid system contributes to a balanced and stable energy supply.
  • Community Engagement : The project acts as a demonstration site for sustainable practices, inspiring local communities and other educational institutions to adopt similar renewable energy initiatives.
  • Operational Cost Reduction : Utilizing on-site renewable energy generation helps lower the college’s energy expenses over time, allowing for the reallocation of resources to other academic and infrastructural developments.

The Wind-Solar hybrid energy system is provided by Unitron Energy Systems Pvt. Ltd, Pune. The total cost of the project is 24.2 Lakhs. Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Government of India has given a subsidy of 15 Lakhs and the remaining funds were given by the parent organization.
